 The 'teaching a lesson' idea works if the teachers get to leave the classroom, ala China in Vietnam back in 1972 which saved Cambodia, and US in Gulf War I which saved Kuwait.
 
 Stratfor's read on Gulf War II is a permanent occupation of Iraq, using it as a base to change the geopolitics of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, and using it as way to strongly influence China, and counter-balancing Russia, Euro zone.
 
 My comment is in an era of nuclear this, missile that, and globalization the other, perhaps too much expense is devoted to the strategy elements of the last big war - historically not a good idea.
