A unipolar power structure is inherently unstable, and in the long term is in nobody's interest, including ours

Surveying history, no power structure lasts forever. But the Roman Empire has pretty unipolar for at least three or four centuries, and it proved one of the more stable setups.

There are always multilateral power structures that arise, usually negotiated in bi- or multi-lateral negotiations.

What has never worked in history is an artificial talking shop like the UN, with chance members like Syria on the Security Council, and Libya the chair of the human rights committee.
