They did not go to war on forged documents, the Niger claim was not that central. Even now, German intelligence fears that hostile elements in Iraq retain the capacity to use chemical weapons, because it is undeniable that they were obtaining the materials necessary before the war. We just found Oday and Qusay, maybe we will find the WMDs soon. I have no idea how strong the links to Al- Qaida are, absent the top secret part of the dossier on the subject. The war was pulled off beautifully. There is no evidence of lack of planning for the post war period. For example, the Interim Council is now in place, and they have rounded up or killed 34 top members of the regime. What is clear is that things are not going as well as hoped. However, in the fog of war, no one gets it one hundred percent right. If you want to blame FDR and Churchill for giving Stalin Eastern Europe, or blame MacArthur for being repulsed by Chinese troops after invading North Korea, then I guess you can blame the current leadership for greater than expected resistance after the main campaign. But it is still too early to know how it will pan out.......
