Company Press Release

OrCAD's Windows NT Enterprise Solutions Address Needs of Large
Electronics Manufacturing Companies

BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AUG. 6, 1997--

- ANTEC Corporation's Initial Purchase is Largest Single

Enterprise Sale in OrCAD's History -

OrCAD(R) (NASDAQ:OCAD), the world's leading provider of EDA software for the Intel(R)/Microsoft(R) platform, today
announced the largest enterprise sale in the company's history. ANTEC Corporation (NASDAQ:ANTC), a $600 million
international corporation, purchased OrCAD's new component information system solutions, design entry and layout tools, and
implementation services. ANTEC's initial investment with OrCAD exceeded $200,000.

``We were in the market for EDA software that would increase the productivity of our design process,'' said Richard
Wunderlich, vice president of engineering, ANTEC Active Electronics. ``We selected OrCAD Capture(R), Layout(R), and
OrCAD Enterprise Bridge(TM), and have been very satisfied with the sales process, including OrCAD's Enterprise Group
implementation services.''

According to ANTEC, the OrCAD products were benchmarked against other products before OrCAD was selected.
Benchmark criteria included ease of use, quality of support, capabilities, interfacing ability, and price. OrCAD scored at the
top in all of ANTEC's criteria. Factors that tipped the scale most convincingly in OrCAD's favor were its new Enterprise
Bridge product for component information systems, the availability of a total solution from one company, and the fact that the
tools can be learned quickly and easily.

ANTEC's challenges are to coordinate design work done at three different sites, and standardize on a single toolset throughout
the organization. The company feels OrCAD's products can help them meet these challenges. In addition, ANTEC anticipates
OrCAD's solution will provide faster and higher throughput at a lower cost.

``This was an important milestone for us,'' stated Mike Bosworth, OrCAD chairman, president, and CEO. ``Not only is it the
largest enterprise sale in our company's history, validating the competitiveness of our enterprise solutions, but it had strategic
significance. It proved that our multi-tiered distribution strategy is a good one for this market. We are focusing on delivering
solutions to enterprises standardizing on Windows NT(R) and we think our unique distribution model is superior for
accomplishing this. Our new direct sales Enterprise Group successfully leveraged our world class telesales group's efforts to
help ANTEC make a strategic investment decision quickly and cost-effectively. We believe we are utilizing our combined sales
forces very advantageously.''
