You have no way of assessing how questionable they were, in most instances. Even now, the British stand by their intelligence about Saddam seeking to purchase uranium in Africa, which did not depend on the forged documents. German intelligence has stated that Iraq was indisputably buying material for use in chemical weapons, and still fears that the regime holdouts have the capacity of manufacturing chemical weapons. No satisfactory explanation has ever been provided for what happened to the stockpiles of VX and anthrax unaccounted for by Iraq. For my part, I remain confident that most of the intelligence was correct........
