How to catch a Racoon living under your front porch

1) Buy a racoon trap
2) Check for dents and do not ignore any. The racoon sprung the trap but one of the gates did not close properly and he esacped. Repair dents.
3) Bait the trap. The racoon steals the bait somehow.
4) Bait the trap. Try again. Unfortunately the same result.
5) Bait the trap. Try again. This time you are lucky. Sort of. It turns out to be a d*mn possum.
6) Bait the trap. The racoon steals the bait somehow.
7) Frustrated you just open the trap and let it sit. Tomorrow you will figure out where to put the bait to make sure the raccoon is caught.
8) Catch the raccoon in the trap with no bait in it.

As best as I can figure, do steps 1, 2, and 8 and forget the extra steps in the middle.
