And not only that, even if the regular working days in China is shorter than here in the US, although perhaps about the same as in the Europe. They have 3 7-day long holidays besides the regular 3-4 week annual vacation time, e.g. Chinese New Year, National Day and May Day.
And there is a dif. bet. men and women, and regular workers and cadres. For regular workers, men retire at age 60, women retire at age 50. For cadres (like supervisors), men retire at 60, and women at 55. For those hard physical labors (like coal miners), men retire at age 55 and women at 45. And university professors and high-ranking scientists can have some flexibility.
