Ted, I know enough about human nature to recognize arrogant, high-minded intellectualism passed off as psychology or political science.

Sorry, Ten, but I don't agree. I will agree with you that academia can be arrogant and overdone but they are not lying in their course work as your posts suggest.

I have enough sense to recognize false analogies being drawn between Hitler and Reagan, or Stalin and Rush Limbaugh.

There are similarities but their are important differences too. There are liberals who are much more liberal than I am....that's the nature of an ideology.

Why so much defensiveness? Its like you are ashamed in what you believe. In extreme form, all ideologies are unpalatable.....Hitler's right wingism was offensive, OBL take on the Muslim religion is offensive, true communism is revolutionary and scary at the same time etc. Extremism/radicalism is hard to take.

I have seen enough liberalism in academia to recognize bias and hidden agendas behind what passes as open-mindedness.

I agree that there is bias but I don't see hidden agendas. Academia teaches theory.....many professors never work outside the school environment so they tend to be naive about day to day life and can live in the theory state. They view things in a purist form; and therein lies the bias. Its not a plot....its simply the way they think.

And I have enough sensibility to not overreact and to not be overly surprised at this nonsense.

If people don't know and understand the theory behind applications and ways of thinking, how can they contribute and be productive beyond that of a cog in a wheel?
