Bank Also Wins Awards for Online Bill Payment, Design and Credit Services

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, Bank of America (NYSE: BAC - News) has been recognized as the best consumer Internet bank site in the country, Global Finance magazine announced.

Global Finance also ranked Bank of America No. 1 for its consumer online bill payment and presentment. This is early recognition for a new Bill Pay Web site that features a simple Bill Pay hub -- one page where customers can pay bills and receive electronic bills easier than ever. The new site at www.bankofamerica.com was launched nationally in June.

Bank of America also ranked first for its consumer online credit and Web site design. In the corporate/institutional division, Bank of America's Connections was named the best online securities trading site.

Independent judges and the magazine's editors chose Bank of America based on:

* Strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers
* Success in getting clients to use Web site offerings
* Growth of online base
* Breadth of product offerings
* Evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives
* Web site design and functionality

Bank of America has 5.7 million active online customers, the largest number in the industry.

Bank of America remains one of the few financial services companies offering online banking and bill pay for free, without minimum balances or other conditions. Since making bill payment free in May 2002, the number of customers paying their bills online has grown from 1.1 million to 2.4 million.

"This independent validation of our new Bill Pay hub page and other features proves that Bank of America's Online Banking is the best that's out there," said Sanjay Gupta, e-Commerce executive. "The judges' enthusiasm mirrors what we're hearing from so many customers who are turning to the convenience of www.bankofamerica.com to handle their banking needs."

Bank of America provides online bill payment services through CheckFree Corporation (Nasdaq: CKFR - News). CheckFree provides electronic commerce services and products.
