Exactly, that's why mishandling the inevitable spread of information in the past was survivable. There is no doubt that the ability to make nuclear weapons will spread, the only thing that can be controlled is the perceived need to develop them.

Can you imagine if it were N Korea or Iraq of 10 years ago or Iran which had the power of the US?
Most likely they would promote their interests, as did the U.S. There is no reason to assume they would launch a war since that is both expensive and unnecesary.
