"sympathetic to Chinese beliefs" Sympathy has nothing to do with it. We know what they believe. We know how they behaved in reaction to events as they saw them. I made an observation about the restraint they showed given what they believed to be true. That does not require any sympathy.

As for what neocons believe, neocons are not the first group of people to see themselves as superior, with a god-given right to run the world and impose their beliefs on others by force or to send other people's children to their deaths. They are certainly not the first political opportunists the world has ever seen -- that is as old as the hills. I feel no sympathy for neocons and see no reason to feel sympathy for neocons -- I do however feel deep sympathy for those who die serving the neocons.
