this is where I think you need to be wary of your definitions.

stocks = securities (yup)
picks = recommendations (nope)

to me
picks = opinions based on subjective interpretation of technical information (charts, ticker, etc....)

Let me ask you this, when you were given "recommendations" what information were you given to support the recommendations? Did they give you fundamental data like PEs and EPS? Did they tell you the companies growth rate? Did they talk about upcoming contracts that the companies had?
