I agree that killing has it's place, such as in self defense. But the state is not in a position of self defense when it orders an execution. The state does need to protect, and that can be done by incarceration very well. Most murderers are deranged souls. Often the crime is one of passion. The state serves no one by executing these sad souls. Orca
