Micorosft all of a sudden wants Apple to survive! They are investing $150M non-voting investment in Apple and Bill Gates is going to make a speech at Mac World today! In addition to that Microsoft will provide Office 98 for Apple and Apple will make Microsoft's Internet Explorer as its default choice of browser! This is very interesting. Steve Jobs in his opening speech said: In order for Apple to succeed it no longer means for Microsoft to lose.... Both companies are committed to Java. And this is also very interesting, but the question is whose Java?! Microsoft's version of it or the rest of industry (i.e. Sun's Java)?! In my humble opinion this is a last minute desperate attempt (but have to admit a brilliant move) on Microsoft's part to continue its losing battle with Sun over Java open standards a little (just a little) longer! In any case this is great news for Sun because both companies (Microsoft/Apple) are pushing for Java in one shape or another stronger than ever before. Microsoft might be getting into Apple, but Sun has Larry Ellison of Oracle on the board of Apple's directors to watch over things not to go in the wrong direction!
