I know it for ME- I don't know it for anyone else, because I don't know what they are hearing in their country on teh streets, on their talk radio, or in their newspapers. I know what I've seen folks say is "plausible" on SI (American folks) and I can't say I see anything more disturbing about what the Germans believe, than what many Americans believe (left and right). I don't think you really can see outside your shell of US citizen (or that certainly isn't coming across in your posts)- which is fine, but which limits your ability to imagine what it would be like to be in some other country, where the US is not imagined to be what you imagine it to be (or what I imagine it to be).
