But if you can't elect another party in the middle of war, why have elections at all in wartime?

And your statement must mean the country was correct to re-elect FDR over Dewey in 1944 and was wrong to elect Eisenhower over Truman in 1952, and Nixon over Humphrey (LBJ's Veep) in 1968.

This country has Presidential elections every four years, war or not. We even had one in the middle of a civil war. As far as I'm concerned , that tradition continues.
