Hawk, I do agree with the opinions and views that you have expressed in your emails. However, where we differ si in the shape of things to come. You seem to rely very heavily on the US press, which I think this administration has very cleverly manipulated and continues to control. I have people (relatives and friends) in these areas whom I am required to keep in contact with by virtue of my childhood ties. They tell me that the Muslim fundamental movement is very strong in these regions. Just today we have on this thread some post a news article on how strong the jihad movement is getting in Pakistan. You would think that this would not have such a following given the situation in Iran where as we are told by our press "the Muslim clerics have failed to deliver."

So my point is let us hold off on conclusions of US success. Bush started the war early having us believe that there is an imminent threat of WMD. Then he ended the war too early (explain the deaths of US soldiers almost everyday). And now we have celebrations of victory prematurely.
