That's true, but there is a danger that is even more insidious than that. I've recently learned that one of the characteristics of DU munitions is that they burn as they travel as projectiles. The uranium oxide is thus spread to the environment as sub-microscopic particles. Perfect for thousands of years of devastation to human pulmonary systems in local dust storms, agricultural plowing, road dust, etc. It's the munition that keeps on giving.
