It would be preferable for us to decided on a set of rules and follow them. Either we show bodies, or we don't show bodies- but let's make sure it's not a war crime (and if we're going to call it one, let's make sure we don't do it). It's more than photos- it's about desecration of the dead. I read the Geneva convention last night. It's not specific about photos of the dead, but we sure were when pictures of our guys were shown....... You can minimize it and call it tasteless photos (I wonder why the government didn't say that when it was US guys? Was that what YOU were saying then?)- but the battle for the peace of Iraq will depend in large part on the Iraqi perception of the US (and the perception of the rest of the world.) I think this might hurt us much more than it helps us. But of course, make it about "tasteless photos".
