I have a great deal of faith that the US can make a"go" of the Iraq situation.
Regardless of mistakes, GWB has a great deal of talent as a businessman, and therefore chooses the right man for the job. It should be obvious from the changes and replacements made. Man assigned- if he fails hes out, when job is done and the next job is defined, perhaps a new man brought in
That attitude was use by Rumsfeld, in choosing Franks to lead the forces, with a new plan. That job is finished,
Franks will retire.
The same technique appears to be applied in rebuilding Iraq.
Oil facilities fixed and running, water systems repaired, electrical working except for interruptions, UN permission to sell oil, etc. Banking system established. Money flowing
Condemnation for not having a plan is ridiculous, nobody knew how long the Iraqis would resist, and no one has tried to form a new government from scratch under the conditions existing in Iraq.
But the goal is very clear and always has been and so why explain it -its obvious
To have a viable, successful, self-governing country with citizen voting rights, and to reduce our imposing forces as soon as fewer are needed to keep the goals on track
Dont need no %^&* schedule for the unknown, which would be hacked by the Press. .
The benefits will be a stable world oil supply, a useful market for trading and selling US products, and hopefully a better attitude in the region toward Democracy. A much better life for Iraqis regardless of what happens next.
