Yes you'll get no disagreement that technology delivers benefits and makes possible what was before impossible. My own consulting business was a case in point - run out of my basement, it became a multi million dollar operation covering a large geographic area. Technology made the operation possible, and allowed us to operate with dramatically lower costs than our more established competition.

Having said that, I've been involved in many large projects, and have witnessed countless others -- and I know that much spending in technology never manages to deliver the benefits anticipated.

I like tech, know tech, enjoy it and use it all the time. Just don't trust the sales people of same (somewhat guilty as charged).

These days I'm most interested in what the impact of the Open Source movement may have on the big players.
