Indeed, the Chicago Sun Times is a left of center rag. Steve Neal generally mirrors that tilt. You might want to take a look at some of his more recent columns.

As for this specific column, which includes the comment, There are legitimate questions about the Bush administration's use of intelligence in making the case for war against Saddam Hussein, I did not interpret it as a defense of the Bush administration. The column was about Durbin, who Neal has previously described as ...Richard J. Durbin, senior senator from the state of indecision...a flip-flopper and human weather vane.

As for Bob Novak, he merely hangs his syndication hat at the Sun Times; aside from the occasional transfer at O'Hare, I don't think that he hangs in Chicago. By the way, I don't see him listed as a Media Whore.
