Believe me, if I thought the UN could do the job I would be all for it, but sadly I dont think they can. Look at the botched job they are doing in Afghanistan. It is my understanding the UN troops are merely sent to a PEACEFUL PLACE to KEEP THE PEACE. ie they are not supposed to even shoot anyone. Just sit around as sort of a blocking action. Iraq is now a No Man's Land, law and order needs to be restored FIRST then the UN can get involved. Now I am not talking ALL of Iraq mainly just the Sunni Triangle including northern Baghdad. Maybe they could be of use in Southern Iraq to free up the British and Kurdish Iraq to free up our forces then all our forces and the British concentrate on the lawless portion. jdn
