Stanley Park Racoons

Listen Rose, if you don't like racoons in your home then then move off the planet, you and rover. Your comments on not feeding the racoons is yet move evidence that the Vancouver Parks Board has brainwashed residents and tourists alike.

Maybe you agreed with them when they removed all the skunks too ? Did you agree with them when they removed the zoo ? Did you agree with them when they started landscaping the park and changing its natural state ? How about the following policies :

No type of vending permits whatsoever!
(with the small exception of hand selected, pre-approved artists for the small area in Stanley Park)

Even Buskers must be approved, and only in certain areas.

I thought Lord Stanley gave the park land to all peoples to use and enjoy freely... and he would have NEVER approved of people coming in and removing wildlife so some pansy ass tourists feel safer. Maybe you also support removing bears from their natural homes because they get into the garbage cans and peoples yards ? Do you know how many ducklings a year are killed by dogs in Stanley Park ? Is your neighbors dog dependent on humans for food ? Look its bad enough that their natural habitat is over-run by development and their natural sources of food are diminished but now you want to displace them or starve them by not feeding them leftovers from McTrash's ?

The other thing I object to is that racoons inevitably end up eating the slime that the Parks Board passes off as food. Bad enough that the VPB is trying to kill the citizens of Vancouver with whatever that junk is they claim is food but then people feed it to the wildlife also ? Not only is the VPB anti animals but it isn't enough to try to starve them, those who do get to eat must endure ptomaine poisoning.

Tell you tourists something, Vancouver is a dead city devoid of any spontaneous fun, any fun at all if big business isn't involved somehow. Things are changing a bit but not enough to give the city any kind of human atmosphere other than what is created by its extreme natural beauty. People like Jim Pattison saw to it that he monopolized everything and that a person simply cannot go through the day without dropping some money in his pocket. He is a stick in the mud and a greedy individual who wants to control the population and its purse strings while giving precious little back in return. Any big endeavor he gets involved in has to be with big business, the same big business types that are turning the 2010 Olympics into an outrageous commercial exploitation. I have lived in Vancouver for 30 years and I am well travelled and have yet to come across a city as unfriendly as Vancouver.

Tell you what, I'll feed the racoons if I want to. Your home is nowhere near Stanley park anyways !!!!! You are too far away from the park for them to be Stanley park racoons. Racoons are everywhere and are a part of the eco system.

Coexisting with wildlife is to tolerate a few negatives and enjoy all the positive aspects of having wildlife in our yards. We owe our existance to the natural forces that run our planet. Now, we try to control it. Small minds (Vancouver Parks Board) build small ideas to protect you & I from enjoying a world in which most consider nature, a gift from...
