So, I agree that they are indistinguishable in their repressiveness. And yes, most dictatorships have a wide divergence between their propaganda and reality. If "the terms left and right lose their meaning for me" when the government is a dictatorship, you might want to consider avoiding using words like fascist. To many people, the word implies a totalitarian government that espouses an extremely right wing philosophy.
