I agree with you. These claims, which have to do with American public opinion and the media's inclinations towards reporting violence, are waaaaaay outside of Stratfor's purported areas of expertise.

I don't think that the administration has a hope in hell of convincing the public to stay in Iraq, no matter what the secret strategic region for it.

The best that they can hope for is to get the public riled up for revenge. If I were them, and I couldn't pull out of the quagmire, instead of minimizing news about casualties, I'd be putting up stories showing how dastardly the Iraqis were in their attacks on our soldiers. I'd probably concentrate on the fact that the Iraqi guerillas use the unmanly technique of "ambush", and don't follow the Geneva convention of wearing uniforms or even armbands. I kind of doubt that this would work, but I would guess that it could keep us stuck over there at least until after the election.
