Apart from the 'sunni triangle', a relatively small area of Iraq where the savage baathists are still trying to preserve their artificial power, things are fairly calm, relaxed and the rebuilding is progressing steadily. << are "still struggling to police Iraq's streets, restore electricity, fix the economy, rebuild schools." All this in a nation that seems, for some strange reason, disinclined to show much gratitude for our having "liberated" it. >> Yeah in less than four months, the Iraqis and the coalition should have had everything in pefect working order. What a sad joke. Things were a mess in Iraq under saddam. Most areas of Iraq had electricity and clean water only some of the time. That was the norm. A lot of the mess we're dealing with now is leftover neglect from the Saddam years.
