Also fascinating is this passage from page 380

of Barren Lands:

Chemical analysis could now distinguish indictor grains from one pipe or cluster and another; and, contrary to what everyone had long assumed, the new tests showed most grains around Blackwater Lake had not travelled from Lac de Gras at all. Somewhere, near or far, lay something else. Similar tests on the fantastic band of garnets from the esker beach at Norm's Camp indicated they did not come from any pipe yet found.>

There are still a lot of diamonds out there waiting.
