:-) I'm glad you approve. I really love my students, whatever their politics, religions, beliefs, and it's crucially important to me that they learn in my class, and never think their teacher is out to get them based on their beliefs (and they DO think that about other teachers- even though I am sure some of these teachers are oblivious, and would be horrified they had provoked such a reaction). Some people are so sensitive about politics, that a person like me, who likes discussion, and feels very little emotional connection to it, would find it hard to anticipate the wounds that could accrue to a student who was not built as robustly as I am. Here, on the internet, people can choose to go away if they are wounded, but children are required to be in class, and thus we have a responsibility to make that a good and productive experience for all children, of all beliefs.
I will now vacate my soap box :-) I have to go plant verbena now with my daughter. We went to the nursery this morning and bought way too many plants- and now we must find somewhere to put them. |
