I think the Neocon agenda is History. GWB did not run on Neocon/hegemony ideology. He made every attempt to look moderate, the Compassionate COnservative. And even at that he lost by 500,000 votes, even with Nader spoiling. The secret implementation of this Agenda has been poorly portrayed, executed and received. Even if discussed it will never be embraced by the majority of Americans. Two hundred years of ideals is hard to short circuit. The Neocons are a narrow band of narrow minds who will never achieve the mass acceptance of middle America. Bush 1, and CLinton rejected the ideology. Only the perfect storm of Bush 2, Cheney, Rummy, Wolfie and Fried RIce found it acceptable. Neocon may stand more for NewCON-Job than New CONservative. They just had their chance and they blew it.
