Anyone aware that a lawsuit has been filed and in control of evidence he or she should reasonably understand is material to those claims, who then tampers with or destroys it, is risking obstruction of justice charges.

Is obstruction of justice proper legal procedure? From all indications, it does appear that many of the defendants indeed do think so.

Since when is "don't you dare" a threat? It is an admonition.
