"Verizon and Vodafone are so dumb that when they decide to sell off their multi billion dollar mistake they paint themselves into such a box that they cannot consider a better offer at quadruple the price."

Sigh... what you say seems to be true.

"Rob, I'm removing my bookmark and will no longer following this stock. I don't own it anymore and I no longer care what happens. Best of luck to you. Dennis"

Thanks for all your posts. At the time I started this subject, CEL seemed quite promising... number two in a large growing market, powerful backers/owners/investors with deep pockets, and riding the wave of growth in telecom services. Times sure have changed. I know VZ is looking for cash anywhere it can find it (mostly by selling off foreign holdings) so it can reduce debt while expanding its CAPEX spending in the USA... seems that VZ was overly eager to find a buyer at any price. I don't know the VOD position; perhaps VOD is equally eager for cash these days. In any case, it appears that VOD and VZ lost patience in CEL and didn't have new cash to invest (given that it would take so long for them to see any ROI). Salinas is a pretty sharp character and must see some way to spin gold out of CEL within the next decade... I wish I understood what his plan is and whether us "little guy" investors will be able to ride Salinas' coattails or whether he'll just take us to the cleaners.

VOD and VZ remain as partners in Verizon Wireless and they have sought opportunities to have an IPO for Verizon Wireless several times in the past few years... but the market never seemed quite right so their plans for an IPO have always been postponed or withdrawn. I think they'll eventually proceed with such an IPO, but not until the economy and market has recovered from the problems of the past few years. Interesting that they seem so patient with Verizon Wireless but have lost patience with CEL.
