Winston Churchill's access to the radio broadcasting state monopoly in the 1930s was blocked by John Reith, the BBC director, who was an admirer of both Hitler and Mussolini.

Sounds about right. Many fail to understand that lots of influential people in the UK were admirers of Hitler and Mussolini. That was the real problem with King Edward marrying the American Mrs. Simpson . She used to play the field a bit and had an eye for some of the up-and-coming Fascists. Edward was the love struck dope who played along.

see Wallis: A Nazi Agent? Her relationship with von Ribbentrop was the final straw as far as UK intelligence was concerned.

Edward is also accused of illegal currency exchanges while in the Bahamas, and probably guilty. It's a good thing he was pushed out of the way imho.
