"Ideals are absolute and you have shown that you have sufficient capacity to recognize the simplicity in that."

This is not an argument; it is an un-evidenced assertion. Sheer nonsense, really.

"but it is not simply because I say so, but simply because it is"

More of the same...sigh

"Ideals are absolute and you have shown that you have sufficient capacity to recognize the simplicity in that."

Sigh...if you wish to DEFINE it so...wonderful. A glass is a glass (if it is a glass). A vampire is a vampire (if it is a vampire); Spock is a Vulcan (if Spock is a Vulcan). My actual name is Pancho (if my actual name is Pancho).

Inasmuch as "ideals" is considered to be synonymous with Absolute, we are saying that the definitions correspond. Defining a concept does not prove the existence of an object.

Language does NOT create or prove an Absolute. Ogres are NOT monstrous. Unicorns do NOT have a horn in their forehead. You do NOT get 72 virgins and 28 young boys in heaven. We have a million words for imagined things. Your problem is in believing that your ability to use or define something is tantamount to proving it has actual existence. Quite silly!!

The fact that an idea is logical or sensible or subjectively true does NOT mean it comes from an extrahuman source. Our ability to recognize that water is wet does not mean that moral pronouncements are absolute. Water and wet are invented words which may be related to fairly consistent and reliable physics--not Absolute...but reliable. But kissing is good is strictly an opinion...and being kind to the wrong people can get you killed.

"It was only whether or not situations are referenced by some unchanging ideal (an absolute) that was up for discussion."

Your belief that language is of supernatural origin is ridiculous. Language simply communicates beliefs. It does not embody or justify them. Language is simply symbols to represent thought.
