You said it yourself. The inspections were "working." It is possible that with all of that warning, Saddam could have hidden the WMD, smuggled them out, or destroyed them outright. It would make sense given the theory that he'd wait out the latest inspections, just like he did the last ones.

Everything else stems from the notion that Bush spent billions of dollars and over a hundred American lives just to get his hands on oil. Even history is being rewritten just to support this conspiracy theory. Everything from what Clinton said about Iraqi WMD (and is STILL saying today) to the so-called wisdom of the "world" is being twisted around to suit those nuts who equate Bush with Hitler.
