<<<Now let's see whether the Israeli government really wants peace, or land. >>>

This is more complicated than it seems.
Everybody in Israel wants peace!
The question is how each group defines PEACE and at what price?
The question of the PRICE comes up because of the lack of trust between Israelis and Palestinians.
Many Israelis look at the LAND as "security",by giving back LAND and not getting real security it defeats the purpose.Giving back land has also effects on domestic politics that in itself can affect the "peace process".

The way I see it the Palestinian Leaders have to first persuade the Israeli PUBLIC that it is interested in peace, this will make it easier on the Goverment to give back land for peace, real peace. As long as the terror continues,no one (only Len and the Boys) will buy the idea that the Palestinian leadership is truly looking for peace.
I understand that even if the Leaders are interested in peace there will always be splinter groups that will continue (or try) with terror, but the P leadership has to show that it is REALLY fighting those groups.
Not so simple......

As to <<<....dragging the USA into this swamp of alligators.>>>

I dont think Bush will come into the swamp unless HE has a vested interest to come in.The way I am reding Bush he has an interest to come to the middle east,1st step was Iraq...

<<<If the Palestineans have any sense, they'll pacify their militants>>>

I think the Trror is not just about Palestinian Home Land...I have a feeling CONTROLL and MONEY play a very big part in the peace equation as far as those groups are concerned......so it will be difficult to "quiet" them down....time will tell
