China is huge, population rapidly heading towards 1.3 billion, however, only around 150 million live in the 'wealthy' urban areas, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, mostly along the east coast.
The weather depends very much on where you live, temperatures range from -15C in the North to 19C in the south during winter. Seasons generally match those of Europe, winter is across December and Jan and summer across June to September.
Most of the country is mountainous, especially in the West where it is relatively under developed and very poor. Shanghai is basically in the centre of the Eastern sea board, one of the most developed and wealthy areas of China.
I would recommend to anyone to live and work in China, a great place to be, lots of opportunities as this market opens up.
