I'm not sure the 5 yr chart shows a relationship well. Being that it is 12 data points a year. And there has to be some sort of smoothing out of the Vix line (lower value)as compared to the AMAT line (higher value)

Now maybe if you could put those charts side by side, but separate, using the value of X itself rather than % change.
