Do you think spiders have that? No, but I don't think that's the point. When you empathize, you imagine yourself in that situation and feel for the creature. It doesn't matter whether the creature has the capacity to react as you would or not. Empathy is an emotional reaction. (one of the most prominent in my limited repertoire of such.) You're trying to rationalize it. %#$^& squirrel. I jusr heard him working from all the way downstairs in my living room. To his credit, he didn't chew the moth ball box, he merely tried to push it away from where I wedged it in. So the moth ball box has now been replaced with another hunk of two by four. That should stop him at least overnight. Cheeky beastie, he is. He looks me straight in the eye when I yell at him to vacate the premesis.
