SONIC SOLUTIONS SNIC is a great play here is why; Got an extra 10K lying around? If you do take a good hard look at Sonic Solutions, trading under 10.00. Here is why I say that, i just listened to one of the great growth stories Conference Calls in the business. They came in with 65% better top line than last year and raised guidance for this year. Now whats really cool about this story is that Sonic is the engine behind DVD Authoring, even microsft has a lic agreement with them. They announced tonight that they calculate their market share at year end will be 70%. Operating margins came in at 85%. Now what exactly does that mean? Sonic makes it revenues from bundling and conversions, same business model as ADBE with its Photoshop. SNIC had revenue in Q2 of 12 million on 2.x million DVDr drive shipments. Between now and the end of q1 04 the industry will likely ship a total of 20 Million drives to customers through OEMS. At 70% share of market, that is one big growth story. Now for the best part of all. There is a 40% short position open on SNIC. This is most likely due to an attempted arbitrage acquisition, me thinks that it wont happen now, as SNIC has added 8 million to their cash position since july 2nd making their cash on hand 20 million. I want to ask you to listen to the CC, its available in the Yahoo Profile. Than I want you to study the action of IGEN when the Shorts got fried by Investors deciding they had enough of the obfuscating. Here is a link to what happened to the IGEN price and the announcement by ROCHE that it would afterall acquire this company. IMO this stock will see 35 by Dec, the free float is wholly owned and the shorts have NO WHERE to go. See what fun you can have just prepositioning a little $.
