I was not talking about individual behavior, I was talking about moral precepts, in a context where I hold that moral knowledge grows in a manner analogous to other sorts of knowledge, that is, cumulatively as a result of social assimilation of individual insights, and social propagation. I mentioned that I thought that there were some basic precepts that existed pretty much at all stages of society, just as most societies learn the use of the wheel and the lever. That was the context into which you interjected your query.........
