The complaint that God is being "unfair" or "unkind" implies necessarily that God out to comply with our human notions of fairness and kindness.

Either that or the idea that there is some absolute standard, about at least some things (or one thing) even for God.

That's not the same thing at all as trying ot judge things for ourselves in lieu of blindly accepting human authority

I didn't limit my post to human authority.

My argument can be put this way. It is conceivable that the creator of the universe could have created the universe in such a way as to make existence torturous and horrible for all of his creation for no good reason. Assume only for the moment and for the sake of argument that this is true. Would it be just, or kind or fair or good? I would say no to all of those questions. But if good is automatically what God defines it as being then this "evil god" could not really be evil. Creating torturous and horrible conditions of innocent people would be just fine even if there was no justification. There would be no justification needed because the creator of the universe would say that it was fine. What I resist is that anything that any conceivable creator of the universe could do or could have done would automatically be good and just and fair and moral.
