China is largest network consulting & integration market in AP outside Japan - IDC
IE Asia Team , 1-Aug-2003
China’s network consulting and integration market will contribute approximately 33% of the total market in 2003, with an expected CAGR of 26%, and will be worth $1.08 billion by 2007.

IDC's latest study Asia/Pacific Network Consulting and Integration Forecast and Analysis, 2002-2007 forecasts that the network consulting and integration market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), will total US$1.28 billion in 2003. It is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 16% to reach $2.3 billion by 2007.

"The growth in China is fuelled by the country's continued economic expansion," said Nicholas Yong, Market Analyst, IT Services Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.

"Companies entering the Mainland will drive demand for network infrastructure services. Companies already in the country will find that the need to upgrade their networks become more pressing as the market matures and becomes more competitive."

Furthermore, the de-regulation of the telecom market will result in the emergence of new telecommunication players, thereby further driving demand for network consulting and integration services, he added.

IDC expects the market impact of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) to be short-term and direct. The ability of the Chinese authorities to control the spread of SARS will be crucial and the faster the authorities bring the epidemic under control, the quicker the market will recover. IDC believes that network integrators cannot afford to ignore the PRC.
