No it isn't. If the American companies get the contract after actual open bidding there is nothing wrong with it.
To date, the bidding has not been open

To date there hasn't been much bidding. Most of the work is not contracted for yet.

As of a month ago, there were 4 or 5 major contracts that had been let. Who knows how many more now exist. There is no oversight.

"If American companies get some super favorable contract that allows them to take most of the profit from Iraqi oil for themselves then it might legitimately be considered "a form of stealing", but that hasn't happened and there is no evidence to suggest that it will."

Its pretty early but so far that's the way it looks.

It does?!?

HAL is making a fortune in Iraq........what exactly are their responsibilities? And who controls what little oil Iraq is exporting, and the monies it brings in. Has anyone told us how they plan to account for the money and who will be responsible for overseeing its use?

Good answer........you should work for Cheney. Cheney is the VP of the US, not Iraq

So he isn't allowed to research Iraq??

He's allowed to research anything the president tells him to research. My question still stands.......why the oil assets of Iraq well before 9/11?

One might speculate that this administration had every intention of invading other countries in spite of Bush's campaign promises to stay out of other countries and their issues.

Unfortunately, I have to think there might be something sinister because of the bad rep the oil industry has in general........let's not forget Enron.

Enron wasn't really part of the oil industry. Besides every major industry has had dishonest companies and individuals, that doesn't mean that anyone who is or has ever been connected to those industries are themselves dishonest or sinister.

Have you ever done business in Houston, the center of the oil industry?
