twf,
re: No special knowledge needed. Saddam had thousands of completely dedicated and violent people that would follow his orders. Some of them are still putting up some resistance against almost half of the world's most powerful army.
Yep, in their own back yard.
re: Do you think it impossible for them to smuggle a weapon in to the United States across our almost wide open borders?
Them? Nothing is impossible, but I would say almost, 99.99999%, impossible. First, a Fedayeen getting in. Second, a Fedayeen getting in with some type (what type?) of WMD, "Pardon me Mr. Hussani, would you mind if I took a look at that 300 lbs of super refined, weapons grade Anthrax, in the metal canister with the explosive charge?" said the customs inspector, with a wry smile.
re: Literally millions of Mexicans have moved in to the US illegal despite the efforts of our border patrol.
That must be why Mexican terrorist actions are so common.
re: We have an enormous border with Canada, 2 huge stretches of coast line and trillions of dollars of trade, which requires things to move in to and out of the US all the time, almost none of which is checked. Do you think that the Iraqis are so incompetent that they couldn't smuggle things in to the US?
Yep, and NOTHING IS HAPPENING. Of course you can imagine 10,000 scenarios where terrorists could smuggle in bombs or whatever. I've got a hell of an imagination, I can imagine 100,000 scenarios. But even in my best overactive paranoid fantasy, Iraqi Fedayeen are not even close to the top of my psychosis.
re: Do you think that the Iraqis are so incompetent that they couldn't smuggle things in to the US?
Yes. Are you so scared of the Fedayeen that you are willing to spend $100 Billion to protect yourself? How about all the other, more dangerous folks in the world. $200 Billion per? We'll discount the US soldiers that die, for the moment.
