this is what web services is all about. I'm not sure if you know what web services are, but BEAS is the only pureplay in web services.

As a practical example for those that don't know, say I am toys r us, I have a deal with amazon to do fulfillment. In the past I would take the order and package it up in an XML document and use some kind of XML gateway or EDI, whatever, the transaction gets uploaded into the amazon system leading to all kinds of parsing errors and (most notably) loses the real-time advantage. You get stockouts when you accept orders and have to integrate with some other system for fulfillment.

Now with web services, theoretically toys r us just accesses the web service from amazon directly and links to it on their site. Here are the amzn web services,
