The acid test on the majority of the AP articles floating around is if the person telling the story refuses to give his name, he's probably lying. That article looks like propaganda of the smoke screen variety. Gee, we blew up Iraq by mistake, but it's Saddam's fault we made the mistake. That dog won't hunt. Bush knew beyond any shadow of a doubt Iraq was fully disarmed. If there was even a hint of danger from WMDs, our troops would have been wearing protective gear at every moment right up to the fall of Baghdad. Half a dozen missiles loaded with VX would have stopped the invasion in it's tracks, and would have eliminated any possibility of seizing Iraq short of turning the second richest oil reserves in the world into a sheet of radio active glass.

Far from being non cooperative, Iraq was doing hand springs trying to comply with UN inspectors. The problem is with each new demand Iraq cooperated with, the bar was raised with increasingly more absurd demands. The fact is Iraq had proven to UN inspectors a total absence of nuclear programs, and was within a matter of days of doing the same regarding chemical and bio weapons, at the time of the US invasion. The timing of the Iraq invasion was not due to a lack of cooperation, but due to such perfect cooperation that Bush knew the country was totally defenseless.

If the threat was real, our troops would have been sitting ducks outside their moon suits. No moon suits. No threat.
