If the VIX is truly signaling a turn in the market then it needs to continue higher on Monday. What your chart does not take into account is Bollinger Bands which have turned the VIX back lower each time the VIX has given a print above the upper band during the last few months:

In addition the put to call ratio was fairly high on Friday. The TRIN was neutral at best:

If the VIX continues to move higher the market will sell off but if it falls back towards that lower band than we will surely see nothing more than additional consolidation followed by more rallies that are not in my opinion supported by fundamental value in the market.
