What do you think of the tens of thousands of US jobs obliterated by Lucent over the last couple of years?

What do you think of the tens of thousands of high-paying US jobs obliterated by Nortel Networks over the last couple of years?

What do you think of the hundreds of thousands of vastly overpaid US workers wiped out in the great phoney-baloney dotcom bust of 2000 -2001?

These are not jobs that went overseas, they are jobs that were eliminated. Gone. Forever. It doesn't matter how much of an econ recovery we have, these jobs are not coming back.

And i do think that the impact of the jobs moving abroad is being erroneously mixed in with the impact of these jobs that are lost forever.

And the whole mess is being compared to the biggest phoney-baloney several years of econ puffery and venture-funded crap co's and the attendant jobs, 22-yr-old company VPs, and company maussueses and pet day cares and catered employee birthday parties and all the other hangers-on that this country has ever seen, so that now anything would look grim, particularly from the land where you live, which, until reality set in, used to be the disneyland for grownups, Silicon Valley.
