Whether TV's are digital or analog has very little bearing on the use of silver and gold. That is how the "signal" is carried over wire or through air. True, digital tuners (channel selectors)have no moving parts, whereas, the tuners 20 years ago had gold plated contacts. I have not checked but assume it depends on quality of TV. You could use tin/lead contacts instead of gold plated contacts to save a few pennies. The quantity of gold (if used) per TV would be small but multiply by one million TV's ...
